History

The chapter started as Black And White Men Together (BWMT) Louisville in
1984.  The group sponsored pot-luck dinners, game nights, movie nights, bar
nights, and trips to functions sponsored by our brother chapters.
Educational activities included HIV prevention projects and workshops
concerning racism and political awareness.

In October of 1993, a group of concerned members and interested parties met
to discuss the future of the chapter. As a result of those meetings, they
voted to change the name to Men Of All Colors Together (MACT) to include all
ethnic backgrounds, while retaining chapter status with the national
organization NABWMT. Other chapters have made a similar name change.  Recent
years have found the groups leaders with new responsibilities, and interest
has waned.

A group of  Kentuckians who attended the NABWMT convention in August 2002 in
Miami returned with a mission to revitalize the organization.  Brochures were
updated, the web page started, and press releases issued.   After several
years of dormancy MACT planned its first meeting scheduled for October 12,
2002 in Lexington.   (Please see "meetings" for the current meeting time and
place)
